Launched in 2013, this sixth edition of this operation saw 82 publishers (up from 79 in 2018) volunteer to send, the files of the novels and essays of their digital catalogue to the partner associations, so that they can adapt the books into accessible formats over the summer ahead of the official release.
As a result, in September 2019, 425 titles (up from 371 in 2018) are available for visually impaired or blind readers in large print, audio and digital braille formats, i.e. 94% of the titles appearing on the lists for a number of literary prizes including the Goncourt, Renaudot, Femina, and Medici.
In parallel to this work with the BNF and the CNL, the SNE also accompanies publishers towards a production of digital books in accessible EPUB3 format, a new powerful version of the EPUB format, suitable for blind, visually impaired or DYS audiences.
