The IPA confirms its freedom to publish programme for Frankfurt Book Fair with an open Freedom to Publish Committee meeting and a seminar hosted by the Norway Guest of Honour programme featuring relatives of two Prix Voltaire laureates and more.
Mahmoud Lotfy brother of Prix Voltaire winner Khalid Lofty who is in jail in Egypt , Ensaf Haidar wife of the jailed blogger Raif Badawi in Saudi Arabia and Burhan Sönmez from Turkey joins Kristenn Einarsson, the chair of IPA’s Freedom to Publish Committee to look at the situation in countries of recent Prix Voltaire laureates and their evolution over the last 4 years. The discussions will be followed by a vigil for 2018 Prix Voltaire laureate, Gui Minhai, who remains in detention in China.
Mahmoud Lotfy will also be able to share news about the emotional opending of a second Tanmia store in Cairo in August in Khaled Lotfy’s absence.
The session is on Thursday 17 October from 13:00 to 13:30 followed by a one hour vigil in the Agora.
The IPA’s open Freedom to Publish meeting takes place on Wednesday 16October from 14:00 – 16:00.
