Gvantsa Jobava, IPA Vice President and Chair of the Congress Programming Committee added: We are preparing a very special Congress for 2024. We are delighted to announce Enrique Krauze as our first keynote. As an historian and a leading Mexican author, his special perspective on the pages our industry will turn in the future will be a real highlight of the Congress.

The venue of the Congress has been confirmed as the magnificent Conjunto Santander de Artes Escénicas. Further programming details will be announced in 2024 with sessions covering copyright, freedom to publish, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as well as focuses on trade, education and STM publishing. Through a variety of sessions from mini ‘Page Turner’ presentations, to ‘On The Same Page’ panel discussions and ‘Blank Page’ workshops, the Congress will live its theme of ‘Turning Pages: Publishing and the Future Society’ to produce concrete outcomes for the benefit of the global publishing community.

The Congress will be organized in collaboration with the Association of American Publishers (AAP) and in coordination with the Guadalajara International Book Fair.

About Enrique Krauze:

Enrique Krauze is an acclaimed Mexican historian, essayist and publisher. He holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and a PhD in History.

In 1977 Mr Krauze started working with Mexican Nobel Prize laureate Octavio Paz in the Vuelta magazine. Later on he founded the publishing house Clío and the Letras Libres magazine.

Among many awards and honors he has received in his career, The King of Spain awarded him the Grand Cross of the Order of Isabella the Catholic and he is also listed as one of the 100 global intellectuals according to Prospect and Foreign Policy magazines.

The Mexican government awarded him the National Prize for Sciences and Arts in the category of History, Social Sciences and Philosophy. He has also been visiting professor at St. Anthony’s College, Oxford, at The Wilson Center and Princeton University. Mr Krauze has written over 35 books. Clío has published close to 250 titles on history, art and culture.
