72 Hour of the Book, Conakry

Founded in 2009 in Conakry, Guinea by Sansy Kaba Diakité, 72 Heures du Livre began as a three-day celebration held from 23 to 25 April in conjunction with World Book and Copyright Day. Over the years, the initiative has grown into a major annual gathering and is now widely regarded as one of the most influential literary events in West Africa.

In recognition of its cultural impact, UNESCO entrusted the organisers with hosting the World Book Capital programme in 2017.

As in past editions, the festival offers a rich and diverse programme, bringing together publishers and professionals from across the book industry – from literature and printing to related creative fields. Visitors can expect author readings, book launches, theatre productions, film screenings, and a wide range of cultural activities throughout the seventy-two hours of the event.
