A Landmark Celebration of Reading
From March 24 to 29, 2026, SLECC will transform into a vibrant hub of creativity and learning. Inspired by leading global children’s book fairs, CICBF will feature:
- Book Exhibitions showcasing classics and contemporary works.
- Interactive Experiences including storytelling, author meet-and-greets, creative workshops, quizzes, and themed play areas.
- Competitions & Performances to engage young readers through art, drama, and reading challenges.
- Health Awareness Programs under “The Meeting Point of Doctors – Kids”, offering guidance for children and parents.
Special Highlights
- Opening Day Message: A nationwide call to strengthen reading culture.
- Darudiriya Scholarships: 20 scholarships supporting children’s education up to university graduation.
- Book Donation Program: Launching its 4th year, benefiting 165 school libraries with books worth over Rs. 300,000 each, including schools in Sabaragamuwa Province and areas affected by Cyclone Ditwah.
Why Now?
Over the past four decades, Sri Lanka’s reading culture has declined due to digital distractions. CICBF 2026 seeks to revive the joy of reading, positioning Sri Lanka as a South Asian hub for children’s literature and fostering imagination, empathy, and cultural understanding among young readers.
