As members of the WBC advisory committee, IPA’s José Borghino and Olivier Borie also took part in the meeting along with the International Authors Forum (IAF) and UNESCO delegates.
Following an update by UNESCO on the WBC programme that aims at promoting books and fostering reading, the Strasbourg team gave an overview of their accomplishments during the past 12 months, noting they more than tripled the number of planned activities while remaining within budget.
To close Strasbourg’s WBC year-long programme, a two-day conference on the Ecology of Books was organized (https://lirenotremonde.strasbourg.eu/rencontres-internationales-de-lecologie-pour-le-livre/), featuring several IPA members, including Rachel Martin from the Netherlands, Thailand’s Trasvin Jittidecharak, Malaysia’s Sheikh Faisal Sheikh Mansor and the Chair of the environmental committee of our French member, SNE, Pascal Lenoir.
After a remarkable year and a beautiful closing ceremony, members of the Strasbourg team would fly a few days later to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil to hand over the over the WBC mantle for the next year.
