This award aims to recognize and highlight the work of individuals or organizations that have made significant contributions to the defense and promotion of freedom of expression, freedom to publish, and freedom to read in the Ibero-American region.
In its first edition (2024), the award was given to María Amparo Casar (Mexico) and Raúl Arturo Figueroa Sarti (Guatemala), whose exemplary careers inspire this new edition.
In 2025, CERLALC (the Regional Center for the Promotion of Books in Latin America and the Caribbean), as a member of the jury, will strengthen the scope and relevance of this award in Latin America.
