It is important that the personal details of children are treated with due care and attention. For this reason, educational publishers in the Netherlands are working together with the national councils for primary and secondary education, school suppliers and school software suppliers in a public/private-partnership. This summer, all initiators of this partnership agreed on a privacy agreement. This agreement assures that schools stay in control about the data processing within digital learning materials. To this end, educational publishers will enter into data processing agreements with schools later this school year.
With these data processing agreements and standardized privacy information leaflets, schools are clearly informed about which data are being processed, for which purposes the data are being processed, and which security measures are taken – without unnecessary technical details or administrative burden. With these agreements schools and parents can rely on safeguarding the children’s privacy.
