The meeting, held in parallel with the International Publishers Congress, enabled IPA members to reshape the way some committees work, including their roles, responsibilities and voting procedures.
IPA President, Richard Charkin, said: “This was an extremely valuable General Assembly, where improvements have been made to the way the IPA represents publishers’ interests in the world. The outcomes demonstrate the IPA membership’s sincere engagement and its commitment to ensuring the IPA can effectively pursue its international advocacy for copyright and freedom to publish.”
Governance of the Freedom to Publish, Membership and Copyright Committees have been updated following the General Assembly, while the IPA statutes have also undergone a number of adjustments.
