Jessica Sänger, Chair of IPA’s Copyright Committee, moderated a conversation with Quentin Deschandelliers (FEP), Catherine Blache (SNE) and Claudia Russo (STM), following the EU Council’s recent vote in favour of the agreed text of the EU Artificial Intelligence (AI) Act on 2nd February’s COREPER.

This is an important step towards the adoption of the world’s first comprehensive framework to regulate AI, aiming at ensuring ethical and human-centric development of AI systems and preventing abusive practices. The EU AI Act also includes basic obligations in the field of transparency, stating that general purpose AI systems (such as generative AI) must respect copyright law through concrete obligations.

IPA has also released their position on generative AI and copyright policy, available here.

All IPA webinars are available to members, and their members, upon request.
