American author and counter-disinformation expert Nina Jankowicz said: “In an age where the term ‘free speech’ is being weaponized by the very people who claim to be defending it, I’m honored to be speaking at the World Expression Forum and sharing my insights from a decade of fighting disinformation. Truth tellers in the U.S. and in democracies around the world are under attack, and I can’t think of a better place to discuss this untold story than Lillehammer.”

Speaking at the 2024 edition, Biard said: “WEXFO is, for me and for Charlie Hebdo, a great way to explain what we do, what our values are, and why these values are important to us.”

Norwegian filmmaker, Deeyah Khan said:  “Freedom of expression isn’t just a privilege; it’s a responsibility — especially when the world seems most fractured. It allows us to stay connected and humanize one another, even when we disagree. Expressing diverse views and engaging in dialogue is an act of courage, because silence only deepens the divide.”

“Real and resilient democracies are particularly characterized by the fact that they protect the freedom of expression of all people – no matter how radical the views may be,” says Seyrna Ates.

WEXFO is an annual international gathering aimed at promoting freedom of expression and democracy. Held in Lillehammer, Norway, from June 2-3, 2025, the forum unites individuals from the arts, politics, culture, business, media, and young activists worldwide to discuss and reinforce the principles of free expression.
