On 18 December, the 2017 UNESCO World Book Capital (WBCC), Conakry, Guinea, received a delegation from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) who will host the 2019 WBCC in Sharjah.

The visit included a meeting between the UAE delegation and the President of the Guinean Writers Association and a number of authors, where they explored ways to develop the cultural relations between Conakry and Sharjah including the possibility of translating books from each country and inviting Guinean writers to visit the emirate.

IPA sits on the advisory committee of the UNESCO World Book Capital Cities initiative. Athens will be the 2018 WBCC. Read more about the UNESCO WBCC here.
