This year’s IPA programming will have a special freedom to publish focus with a special event on the evening of day 1, Wednesday 15 October, which will be dedicated to celebrating freedom of expression defenders. A full announcement of the details of the session, held together with PEN International, will be announced soon and will be followed by a reception.

Earlier on Wednesday 15 October at 14:30, IPA will hold its traditional Open Freedom to Publish meeting where the Freedom to Publish Committee shares news on its work and hears from attendees and IPA members on the different freedom to publish challenges they face in their own countries and regions.

Finally, the IPA will be on the Centre Stage on Thursday 16 October at 10am with a session on What can we do to resist the attacks on the Trinity of Freedoms?  With the freedom of expression, the freedom to publish and the freedom to read, coming under increasing pressure from a range of directions, the session will look at what practical tools are available to the book sector to resist these attacks and what more can international publishers do to support each other?
